The Poet Laureate Presents Poetry Readings at ‘The Poet’

Come and join East End Arts and Fieldgate Urban for The Poet Laureate Presents: Readings at ‘The Poet’, an intimate evening of poetry! Featuring and hosted by myself, alongside three incredible local poets – mercedes killeen, Peter Norman and Lily Wang – come and celebrate my appointment as Toronto’s newest Poet Laureate, literary excellence in our communities, and National Poetry Month!

I’m proud to present three young poets whose work will inspire anyone, whether inside and outside the vibrant Toronto literary community: mercedes killeen, Peter Norman, and Lily Wang. Each of them expresses vital aspects of Toronto’s diversity, and the dynamism of its poetry. They communicate directly and powerfully, yet are also experimental, exploratory, in their subjects and styles. They fully embrace the moment we live in, and at the same time they bring us close to the ancient, ever-new center of life whose best voice is poetry. I’m proud that mercedes, Peter and Lily have agreed to join me in the first of what I hope will be an ongoing series, “The Poet Laureate Presents”, discovering and offering poetry in every part of our city.”
