In advance of its September 24 launch, The High Window has published both an review and an excerpt from my forthcoming book, Great Silent Ballad.
Colin Carberry’s review considers Great Silent Ballad in relation to my previous works, identifying an emergence of a new tone:
A burning need to confront social evils also preoccupies the poet’s mind and finds expression in his verse. In ‘The Tawer’, for instance, he makes it clear that all who profit from exploitation and injustice have an absolute responsibility to provide some restitution to those who died in slavery or penury. It is not enough to blithely declare, Well, it was a long time ago, what can be done now? Perhaps the vast majority of humanity does not believe that seeking restitution for past injustices is a necessary obligation but in his bones Moritz knows…
In addition to the review, you can read six poems excerpted from Great Silent Ballad: “Where,” “The Gift,” “Dead Skunk in the Road,” “Hearing from You,” “House,” and “The Path.”
Do spend some time with this August 1st Post on The High Window. Then, if you haven’t yet familiarized yourself with THW, read on!
