Dead Poets Society Night, 2021
December 14, 2021 @ 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Dead Poets Society Night
On Tuesday, December 14, 2021, The Art Bar Poetry Series returns to Clinton’s (693 Bloor West) for in-person events, starting with the 18th annual meeting of The Dead Poets Society. The Dead Poets Society Night is an annual tradition at the Art Bar Poetry Series, normally held in mid-December. Those poets performing read from the poetry of dead poets. Since this event features a full roster of readers, there will be no traditional Art Bar open stage. There is also a cover charge of $10 for this event, as well as a $2 or more suggested donation. The event is a Fundraiser for the Art Bar Series itself.
This year’s readers (and their chose poets) are: Marsha Barber (Dorothy Livesay), Margaret Christakos (bpNichol), George Elliott Clarke (Derek Walcott), Simon Constam (Lawrence Ferlinghetti), Kate Marshall Flaherty (T. S. Eliot), Michael Fraser (Arna Bontemps), Catherine Graham (Brendan Kennelly), Stephen Humphrey (Joe Rosenblatt), Clifton Joseph (Kamau Brathwaite), Bruce Meyer (Mary Oliver & Peter Porter), A. F. Moritz (Robert Bridges) and Myna Wallin (Fraser Sutherland).
Again, the event takes place on Tuesday, December 14, 2021, at Clinton’s on 693 Bloor Street West (nearest Christie Subway Station). Food will be available at 6pm. Doors open at 6:30pm, and the event begins at 7pm. Clinton’s will be offering a selection of menu items at a reduced rate.
There is a cover charge of $10 for this event, plus a minimum suggested donation of $2 for the Art Bar Reading Series.
Covid Measures
Clinton’s will follow the protocols and capacity limits that are in place at the time of the event. Under current limits, this requires that all attendees provide proof of vaccination, filling approximately 25 tables of 3-4 people each.
