Atwater Poetry Project

On Thursday, September 27, from 7:00 – 9:00 pm, at the Atwater Library and Computer Centre in Westmount, Quebec, I will be reading with talented poets Rebecca Păpucaru & Moez Surani as part of the Atwater Poetry Project. The event is FREE and everyone is welcome. All of our books will be for sale. This event is a co-presentation with the University of New Brunswick’s 2018 Poetry Weekend.

RSVP via Facebook now!

REBECCA PĂPUCARU’S first collection of poetry, The Panic Room (Nightwood Editions, 2017),was a finalist for the A.M. Klein Prize for Poetry (Quebec Writers Federation) and the Gerald Lampert Memorial Award, Her poems have appeared in several anthologies, including The Best Canadian Poetry in English (2010). She was a finalist for the Penguin Random House of Canada Student Award for Fiction (2004). She lives in the Eastern Townships, Quebec.

MOEZ SURANI’s writing has been published internationally, including in Harper’s Magazine, Best American Experimental Writing 2016, Best Canadian Poetry (2013 & 2014), and the Globe and Mail. He is the author of three poetry books: Reticent Bodies, Floating Life, and Operations, which is comprised of the names of military operations, and reveals a globe-spanning inventory of the contemporary rhetoric of violence. Most recently, he has been working on Heresies, a collaboration with Canadian visual artist Nina Leo, and a group of international perfumers, to produce a line of custom scents that operate as lyric poems and express diverse and suppressed subjectivities.

The reading will take place in the Atwater Library auditorium, which is located on the second floor, up two flights of stairs. Unfortunately, the library doesn’t have an elevator. There is a single-stall gender-neutral washroom and a multi-stall women’s washroom both next to the auditorium. Should you require assistance getting into the building, please contact deanna (at) atwaterlibrary (dot) ca.
