Music and Exile
from Music and Exile
Some say that mine is a work of images
appearing and ceasing to exist in succession,
like static and silence on a radio turned at night
to some station perhaps beyond its range:
there is only nothingness to connect the flashes.
How is it that no one has detected you,
your voice, the thread of all things seen and heard?
Is it that you are not an image
but a ghost, the idea of a melody,
a cry from beyond the loud wall of the rain?
While this chapbook and The Visitation are no longer in print, Music and Exile appears within The Visitation section of Early Poems (Insomniac).
